LUDLOW, CALIFORNIA (Route 66) Named for William Ludlow in 1883, Ludlow was a water stop for the Central Pacific.
Water was hauled in from Newberry Springs by tank cars. As the Route 66 alignment followed the rails, Ludlow became a busy rest stop along the highway.

Behind the rubble of the old town of Ludlow a rusty wire fence twists from the broken gate around and back. A stone may date some of those at rest to years before Route 66. Nameless and numerous markers lend to an aura of forgotten friends and folk left behind at the end of the trail. VISIT THE LUDLOW CEMTERY
